Hello,
Can hot water from a gas heater travel back through a cold water line? I can feel warmth in the unpainted cold water line about up to 1 foot above the heater cold water intake. Above that is a shutoff and the rest of the line is painted and cool to the touch.
I have a suspicion that this may be the reason the water and icecubes from my refrigerator taste terrible dispite flushing the refrigerator with bleach to kill bacteria. The 1/4 inch copper feed tubing takeoff is located about 14-1/2 feet away from the gas water heater.

That pipe is hot because its above the water heater. Run the hot water awhile it will be cold. Have you tried a filter? I lived where the water turned red when fozen. Great party faver.

Yes, I tried a filter with no improvement. The bad taste must then be from the plastic parts that carry the water to the fridge spout and icecube maker. I shut it down and will drink bottled water and make icecubes from my tap water which is 100% better.

If your not a push over for salesman call a clean water services and have your water tested. Me I bought ice and drank the water. I'm still alive. Slow witted prove its the water.
