We just added a rather large sunroom to our home (13' x 29'). I am now in the process of deciding my window treatments. I kind of like bamboo panels with grommet-tops. The long side of the room will have 7 windows, approx. 39" each. I want to go straight across the windows with the treatment. My problem is where would I get the drapery rod long enough to go across? It amounts to approx. 273". Do they have extensions to add on to the rod? I searched the web and I can't seem to find any. Anyone have any ideas? I would appreciate any suggestions. Thank you.

No one answered me yet, but anyway, I thought I'd post that I have found an extender at JC Penny. It will extend certain styles of rods by 40". I would need a few of them. My problem is solved!!!!

I needed an extension once and ended up using a copper pipe. It gets hidden by the drapes and was a perfect match for the rod size.
Just an idea,

I'm not sure if you want a traversing rod or not but this site has some very long rods (312 inches): http://www.interiormall.com/cat/sample.asp?ID=D111-0-599

I had to divide a room for my son who returned home. I made my own curtain and used a very long dowel 2 1/2" round. I found it in the moulding dept. Near the stair rails. I stained it to match the dowel rods holders that I had purchased separately. It looks really nice, especially being homemade.

I bought some extremely long drapery rods at www.interiormall.com and was satisfied.

I saw an epidosode of hgtv where a pipe was used. They painted it black.

The biggest problem I see here is you want to have a 12 foot span that wont bow.. If you want grommets, you will have to span 11.5'free of brackets so your drape can close as a split draw.. I don't think there is any way to accomplish this with grommets, even a metal pipe will bend in a few months months from its own weight..
But, If you plan on using a grass weave they will never stack open so you don't really need these drapes to function.. That being said, you could put up any pole with as many brackets as you need, you would just never be able to move the panes..
Also, I have never seen a grommet style drape made out of a horizontal grass weave dress and ripple nicely.. It will never follow that shape you envision because the horizontal weave of the material is fighting you every step of the way.. Grass weaves are best used so they lay flat or fold horizontally..
A panel track system may be perfect for you, its made of many 12'' or 7'' panels of whatever material you choose.. the panels cover the entire window and when you close them stack neatly behind each other.. The track on these need to be covered with a valance when you have such a wide width because you need a channel for every panel in the track, and such a wide window demands many panels
Even better than the old fashion panel track is Hunter Douglas's Skyline series.. Its like a panel track but has a much nicer track that only needs 2 channels no matter how many panels you need.. Its perfect for huge wide windows and looks like a million bucks.. If you have money to spend this is an awesome product and I highly recommend it..
Also, Most any shade you like can be used in your setting with the proper measure..
If you decide that youre gonna do drapes here is my advise..
Forget any idea of rings or grommets if you want these drapes to open and close.. your window is simply to wide for this conventional approach..
If you love the look of rings you can get a decorative traverse rod that has faux rings attached and gives you the look you of a traditional rod with rings..
If you like the rippling effect a drape with grommets has check out "ripplefold" rods by kirsh or some other knock offs..
If you would like a drape with a standard pinch pleat you could use any traverse rod you choose..

Are panel tracks ceiling mounted. In many hotels there may be 12'+ of draperies in rooms. These are ceiling mounted.
