Hello Cheese
I have a question about a homelite super XL chainsaw.
The saw locked up on me so i took it apart.The piston
and the cylinder are history.The problem i am having
is trying to find another piston and cylinder so i can rebuild it.
I think the reason it locked up was when i took it apart i noticed
that the inside of the saw was completely covered up in oily sawdust.
The saw got so hot it locked up.Thanks for any help you might have.

You may have luck finding a junked saw with good parts, or a small engine shop with parts still on the shelf (although the latter is unlikely). You could probably buy a whole good used saw on ebay for less than the price of the parts you listed. Another thing to think about is that if the saw truly got that hot, it may need more than those parts. It could easily need crankshaft bearings and seals, crankcase gaskets, and maybe an intake if it warped. I wouldn't go to the effort/expense of trying to repair it, but that's just me.

I talked to a friend of mine thats been working on lawnmowers for a long time.
He had a cylinder and a piston for that model saw.I am getting a good deal on it
so i am going to try to rebuild it and see what happens.Thanks for the help i will let you

I have a homelite that has so much dried pine sap on it that it won't turn. Runs great, but the drive sprocket is completely frozen in place, even after washing it down is gasoline.

Gasoline won't cut through pine tar, kerosene or isopropyl alcohol will however.
