I am finishing my basement and I'm looking for a good supplemental heat solution for the space. The basement will be a little under 800 sq.ft. when finished. Our house is in Cincinnati, Ohio. We have little kids, so we would like to find something that could hang on a wall, and perhaps be cool-to-the-touch. At first, we were thinking about a natural gas wall unit, but now we're thinking one of those would be too hot for the kids being around.

What electric wall space heater(s) do you recommend?

I heard that there is one that heats the humidity in the room, is cool-to-touch, and fairly cost-effective. Does anyone know what that one is called, and who manufacturers it?

How does the cost effectiveness of electric heaters of this size/kind compare to that of gas heaters?

Thanks,
Virgil

Go here and check out fuel cost for where you are first

With the kids you could put electric heat under the floor and not get to hot for them to get burned. Also they have electric unit heaters that hang from the ceiling
Dont try to use any of the gas ventless units for down there.

I have installed forced air electric units that recess in the wall. They are great and will not burn ones skin.
