I have a briggs 12.5hp verticle shaft engine and was wondering if anyone knows the RPM this runs at while at full throttle? I need it to run a gear box and found a 10:1 for fairly cheap but I think it will be to slow.

So with a belt to the gearbox I would probably get about 400 rpm. Then a chain to the drive wheel and that will gear it down more, yikes Ill be at 50 rpm lol

All small, OPE intended engines are designed to run at 3600rpm+-. Don't you want a horizontal shaft engine? If so, there are 6:1 ratio, sump mount gear boxes available through Briggs but only up to 10 horse that I'm aware of.

I wish I had a horizontal shaft engine but I got this one for free. I will look into those briggs gear boxes, I didnt know they sold them. I was planning and using a 90 degree gear box so Ill look into th B&S boxes.
