I want to install a water softener at a level that has no darin. Is there a problem with the drain line going up about 6 feet to get to a drain?

my GUESS is 6 feet is way too much. Wait for others to chime in. There may be a pump of somekind you can use.

Check the documentation for your softener. If you haven't bought a softener yet then that question, among MANY others, should be asked and answered before you buy.

I can't speak for other brands, but the units I deal with absolutly have NO problem running up that high or even higher.

Neil,

Most valves should be able to go up to 8' high as long as there is not a lengthly horizontal run (25' +) as well. If you cannot create an air gap to your drain connection, make sure you at least install a check valve off the unit to prevent backflow into your water supply.
