I have read most of your posts on leaks, and I don't quite see my problem.
I've got a State Censible 510E that is about 13 years old. It is leaking at the top of the tank on the cold water input side. I thought it might be the nipples because there was a good bit of corrosion on both the hot and cold water sides. I replaced those yesterday, but then discovered that the leak is coming from the top part where I screwed in the nipple on the cold water side (not sure what this is called. Is it the tank?). This area looks to be pretty corroded as well.
Is this something that can be repaired, or is it time to shoot this old horse and get a new one?

Nadir, Welcome to the DIY Forums.
Basically, those are threaded couplings that are welded into the tank. The threads may be corroded so bad that they can no longer seal the nipple threads. Pipe dope compound (rather than teflon tape) may seal better. At 13 years, it's time to start looking at a new unit. Good luck.

Thanks, Majakdragon!
I think the leak is happening outside the coupling not seaping through the nipple. It is possible the weld has corroded.
Do you think pipe dope compound would seal that leak temporarily or is that a wasted trip to Home Depot?

If its outside the nipple, it won't help. Only temporary patch I can think of would be JB Weld. Keep in mind that this is temporary.
