I replaced my thermostat with a vision pro 8000. red wire to R which is jumpered to RC, white wire to W, yellow wire to Y, green wire to G and blue wire to the C terminal. Now the heating works perfect but no air conditioning, i can hear the air handler kick in but the compressor does not come on. any suggestions. tks walt this is a single stage heat and air.

First step would be to check fuses/breakers. If they look ok, check across terminals L1 & L2 on the outdoor unit contactor for 230 volts. Does the contactor on the outdoor unit pull in? If it does, check for 230 volts across T1 & T2. If voltage is there, my next suggestion would be look at the capacitor to see if the top is swollen. A swollen capacitor top is a 99% giveaway that you have a bad cap.

Got a good t-stat there.
You got gas heat?
in system set up, what do you have it at? and type of heating system?

under installer setup system type, it is set to 1 which is 1 heat/ 1 cool system. the thermostat is a honeywell th8110u:walt. all the systems are trane. th eheat work great but when i switch to air, i hear the air handler kick in but no outside compressor. i have 3 different units on 3 different thermostats all work the same, heat but no air. tks yes i do have gas heat.

Make sure the wire is hooked up to Y at the t-stat, then Y at the furnace to the outdoor unit.
Make sure your fuse/breaker for the outdoor unit is good/on.
do you hear clicking outdoors?

Are you saying all 3 outdoor unit does not come on?
This one t-stat runs all 3 units?

No each unit has its own thermostat, 2 of the units have large air handlers in the attic, and the other is just a medium heating / air condition unit. all three have the compressor outside, i have checked all the brakers / fuses all are on and good . there is high voltage to the outside unit as i can push on the main contactor and the fan blades start to turn. The thing i am not sure of is if these systems have only 1 or 2 relays per system . the old thermostat had only 5 wires . Red to R jumpered to RC ,White to W ,Yellow to Y , Green to G, and blue to C . this is a honeywell th8110u and old one was a trane 7300 . the only difference between the 2 is the blue wire went the the X terminal on the trane 7300 the terminal quick ref guide says the X terminal is a + 24 volt ground, common reference tks

Sounds like you wire it all right.
You changed all 3 t-stat?
There is one relay per outdoor unit.

Follow the low voltage line into the outdoor unit.. Is there any pressure/temp switches? Odd that all 3 units will not run.
Do you have a voltage meter to check low voltage going out to the unit?

Where's your O wire? Is your thermastat the fossel fuel kit? Do you have an outdoor senser?

Kranky,
I don't this is a heat pump. I think this posting should be moved to A/C section.

i found that the air condition people did not hook up any of the yellow wires to the y1 terminal blocks in the outside unit. measured no volts with no air and 24 volts on yellow wire when thermostat is set to air on. tks again walt

jay it was installed last dec 2005 here in nashville tn. in the outside unit there is a large yellow wire going from terminal block y1 to cps and hpco switches to one side of contactor, but the small yellow wire from the thermostat /air handler was not connected to the terminal block y1 all 3 units. looking at the wiring diagram it shows the yellow wire comming from the thermostat at y1 going to the air handler terminal at y and them going to the outsde unit at terminal y1 to 1 side of compressor. tks in advance walt
