Maytag Performa Dryer (1999?) PYE2200AZW
The heating element seems to be fine - it heats up in a squarish ring shape and it looks to be continuous. Unfortunately, as soon as it heats up there is a 'click' and then the element shuts off. Is this the thermostat? If so, how do I replace it? I don't even know how to take apart the dryer to do so either... any and all help is appreciated!

"as soon as it heats up there is a 'click' and then the element shuts off."
The element is not meant to stay on continuously. Its supposed to cycle.
The first thing to check is air flow. Check your vent for restrictions If its plastic flex hose
then get rid of it and replace it with aluminum.
