Sorry if this is a ignorant question, but I pulled the impeller off my 7.5 hp Craftsman chipper for repair. I am ready to put it back together, but can not find the "flywheel key". Now that I think of it, I don't recall seeing one when it took it apart. The impeller hub is all smooth, so does this set up use a key or is there no key used even though there is a slot on the shaft? I don't see a key listed on the Craftsman parts website, but the Briggs & Stratton website sells a key for this engine. Thanks for any advise.

The way ingnorance is stamped out is by asking questions. I haven't worked on a chipper like yours. Is the shaft and hub tapered? if so,you need to find how much torque the bolt needs to secure rotor to shaft properly. If not tapered, then maybe someone else here knows the correct procedure for tightening it.
