My wife and I are in the process of repainting "her"kitchen. She has decided upon a "Tuscany" theme of Eggplant and and Haze colors. There are high spots to the ceilings. I have wrapped towels around the edges of the ladder to avoid marking the molding along the cabinetry. It's about a good 15' up and the top of the ladder will not touch the wall in some areas. I have already broken one piece of molding where the ladder had no choice but to lean against the upper cabinet. Any suggestion on what to do? I really don't want to go buy one of those fancy ladder that you have to bend in different directions that will bend over the cabinetry and against the wall to avoid the cabinets. Any other suggestions?
Thanks,
Bithlo

Have you considered renting one rather than buying? You could also rent some scaffolding that would give you a secure working platform.....

If I am understanding correctly, you don't have a tall enough step ladder and are using a leaning ladder which is too long?
You need a taller step or shorter ext. ladder
Or, if you have room, there is a U shaped bolt-on for the top of leaning ladders that keeps it off the walls
It's mostly for out-doors, but maybe it'll work for you
I'll try and find a pic

How about an extension pole on your roller?

I have one of those ladders and it is very useful. But, it sounds like a regular step ladder is all you need. Either that or a tall kitchen step stool. Cosco makes one that has a tray to hold the paint pail.

Bob? he's trying to reach up 15 feet.........just exactly how tall is YOUR kitchen step stool?!?!
i think the problem is that the 15 foot point is above his upper cabinets, so in order to lean the extension ladder up against the wall, the ladder is hitting the cabinetry......and a regular A-framed step ladder, no matter how tall, won't get him close enough to the wall.
hmm......i guess you can't put the ladder ON the countertop, can you? that seems dangerous.....stilts? the extension pole sounds good for general filling in, but what about cutting in the wall color at the ceiling line? that's hard to do from 15 feet away.
i think you're going to have to either rent scaffolding or one of the fancy ladders.

Although not overly easy to use, you can buy an adjustable brush holder that screws onto a roller pole.

I have one that is 5 feet high and I think I've seen one that was taller.
