I have a Whirlpool DU8950XY-1 that came with our house. It was in White and I want to change over to black. I have figured out how to do this on the panels, both top and bottom, but I want to switch the console insert (Shows the settings for the dial) as well.

Can anyone tell me if that console insert can be changed simply by turning it over (as with the top and bottom front panels) or does it require me to purchase a completely new part?

If it can be flipped, can you tell me how to do that. I had taken apart as much as I dared (Took off the switches, but was afraid to mess with the timer and dial), but still couldn't see how it could be changed.

This is outlined in your installation instrutions.

Yes, I have gotten as far as outlined in the instruction manual.

What I am asking about is the Control Console insert (The part that has the markings on showing where the dial is turned and the status of the wash.) Right now I have a black upper and lower panel, but a white control console.

I need to know if there is an easy way to convert the control console, or whether I would need to purchase a new one (in black, obviously) to get the desired effect.
