I want to purchase 6" urethane cornice / crown moulding that comes pre-primed. Here is a link: http://www.rensup.com/Cornice/10976.htm As it has deep "reliefs", I think it would be difficult to paint with a brush. Would HVLP be the way to go? As the rest of my walls and ceilings are latex, should I stick with that for the moulding, or would enamel be easier to work with / thin for spraying?
I haven't found information on what it is primed with, and am concerned about paint compatibility. Any advice for the newbie appreciated. Thanks.

Not that I know any definite facts about your particular moulding but most if not all primer on trim products for home use are compatable with either oil base or latex paint.

If you intend to spray the moulding I think you might be better off painting it first [like in the garage or outside] Whenever you spray in an occupied home there is a lot of cover up involved. Even though HVLP's have less overspray there still is overspray. I rarely ever spray in an occupied dwelling. With the trim pre finished you shouldn't need to do a lot of painting by hand - just enough to cover up the caulking and puttied nail holes.
