I would like to have a darker stain (mission style) on my kitchen cabinets. They are a honey Oak veneer. Can I strip them and stain them darker, or will the veneer lift with a chemical stripper? I don't mind the look of the wood, I just want it darker. Please advise. Thanks!!

There's no reason to expect the veener to lift if it's solidly in place now.
