Hi, I'm a new poster. I thought I had posted this yesterday but don't see it here. Here's question: bought painted-over mahogany dresser at auction. Stripped off paint with paint remover and hit underlying finish with denatured alcohol. There are areas of whitish discoloration seemingly IN the wood. Could this be a discoloration of the filler commonly used on mahogany? I'd like to get rid of it without using anything water based (such as oxalic acid or bleach). Don't want to raise the grain. Any suggestions?
