The washer is 2-year old and is not draining after a heavy load. The water in the drum is still full of detergent. I have removed all clothes and drained the water as much as I could manually. However it's still not draining. The drum is still spinning fine. There is a "hmmm" sound (not sure exactly how to describe it) when it's about the cycle to drain, but no water is coming out. That sound lasted a while, then the spin would kick in.

After some research I noticed this seems to be a common problem. I found one thread particularly helpful: http://www.applianceblog.com/mainforums/showthread.php?t=484
Tonite I opened up the washer and took out the drain pump and found a kid's sock in it! I have absolutely no idea how it got there. Anyway, the pump was definitely tangled up and thus couldn't turn to pump the water out. It was quite an educational experience.

"I have absolutely no idea how it got there. "
What usually happens is that the sock will get thrown over the top
of the inner tub then gets sucked down in the sump of the outer tub
and into the pump.
