Kitchen Large Electric Appliances - ICE MAKER Dispenser QUIT Kitchenaid Superba Refer.

The ice dispenser worked fine for several years then started to work intermittently. Finally the unit gave out completely...Now if you press the button it sounds as if the unit is jammed or frozen.

I took the whole storage bin out emptied it, let it unthaw, and tried it again.

I replaced the motor but to no avail. Still the same.

I tested all the switches and all seem to be fine.

Can anyone help figure out what is the matter?????

The tag that has the model number had been removed and I can't find the booklet I printed off a couple of years ago...

Based on your description it looks like a case where the motor is running but not turning the auger.
Check the ice bin itself there should be a coupling where it meets up to the motor. Something there could be broken or stripped.

I finally have a little time to dedicate to this problem again...I checked it all again. Cleaned out the bin, tried the ice lever and nothing. Where would I start with the diagnosis??? Before and after I replaced the motor when you would depress the lever it would engage but wouldn't spin the auger...Now I get nothing.
