I am going to replace an existing water heater tank. For 30+ years I've used a 50 gallon tank with a family of 4 but now with just my wife and I left here I am wondering what size tank I should replace it with. Could I get by with a 30 or 40 gallon tank? We both just use the shower and the laundry is probably what would be considered normal. Other than an electric dishwasher that is used about twice a week, there is nothing out of the ordinary. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Thanks,,,,,,,, pear4710

pear,
if you have gas supplied to the water heater, you should be good to go with a smaller heater,
if not, i, my opinion, if it is electric, i would replace it with the same size, reason being is that you and the wife are used to the comfort level that you have now. but of course, since the kids are all gone, it might be time for you and the wife to be spending that inheritance money on yourselves !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
just trying to be a little funny, very little,
