Painting - waterbase or oilbase ? ?

I'm going to be installing a new wood front entry door. This door is south facing and gets alot
of sun a good portion of the day. Should I use water or oil base paint. Also what would be
the best way to apply the paint? Brush or spray ? Thanx.

Personally I like oil-based
But in reality, the water-based paints today are terrific, and there's really no need for oil on your project
For a DIYer I'd recommend water-based
I'd use a good brush, and some good paint from a Paint Store (not a paint department)
Personally I like Ben Moore, but the Sherwin Williams Paints I have used have also been great
Tell them what you are doing, and they will set you up with the right product the store carries carry

You didn't mention if the door would come pre-primed or raw
If it's raw, don't forget the proper primer from the Paint Shop

You should sand (fine) and wipe the raw wood (unless instructed not to by the door instructions) and in-between coats

The door is raw, no primer. Thanx for the advice. :)
