Hi,
I just bought a house in CT and have discovered that the "humidifier" on the furnace is in fact an empty box with nothing inside! I have bought a honeywell 360 from the Depot. I have little room on the supply side (although I could get the humidifier in it would be quite tight and also it's currently pretty well insulated). The old unit was mounted on the downdraft cold air return with a bypass from the supply side. My question is - can I mount the new Honeywell unit in the same position? It would save me cutting more holes, and be easier to access. Why do honeywell advise mounying in the supply??

The 360 MUST go on supply side (Hot air) for it to work well. The small fan pulls the hot air out of the ductwork, blows it over the pad, and back into the ductwork.
The 360 is a powered unit that has a small fan, and don't use the by pass as your old one was.
The next model down is what you need.
