Anyone know where I can get German-style ceiling-mounted curtain hangers? Outside of Germany, that is?
About4 inches (oops, I mean, about 10 cm) wide, the hanger has a T-slot running down the length of the hanger. The T-slot ends about 1/2 inch from the ends of the hanger and those ends are terminated by a 1/2 hole. The little plastic rollers are fed into the T-slot through the hole and the hole is then filled with a cork (well, that's greatly simplified).
There are other mechanisms, but I'm looking for anything that mounts on the ceiling or on wall hangers that lets the curtains hang straight down and not all bent over like on usual American curtain rods.

Yes, like that. The ones that are popular in Germany however are made of wood in various lengths. The track is more or less standard, hangers are available all over the country. Who knows , maybe they are available along with the tracks all over Europe.
I had forgotten about hospital curtain tracks - they'd do in a pinch.

Looks like the nearest Ikea is in Phoenix, and I'm in Denver. Oh well.

JC Penney recently started selling their version. Maybe this will work for you.
