Hi there. My son's high school lacrosse team is ordering helmets that are the same brand and model that my son already owns. The problem is that the school colors are blue/gold and his helmet is black. Is there a way to repaint his helmet to match the colors and get the same sort of finish that it comes with from the store?

I'm assuming the helmet is plastic of some sort.My only thought is spray paint specifically formulated to use on plastic.Krylon has a line the name of which escapes me right now but it is labeled as a spray paint for plastics.Do not use ordinary spray paint as it will not bond to plastic.A second thought is automotive paints as many auto body parts are plastic and often need to be painted.I'd talk to an auto parts store to go in that direction.

Or a motorcycle shop

I would inquire of the manufacturer of the helmet if putting paint (and specify which type) will compromise the safety of the helmet before applying the paint.
