THIS IS a two part agitator...the bottom should move back and forth as an agitator should..the top is like a worm driving close downward to agitator...the agitator moves in the rotation as the top worm and never rotates back and forth...used machine but otherwise runs fine...any thoughts?

thanks

If this was me, I would pull out both halves and check the underside of the agitator part to see if any splines in the plastic might be stripped. I have come across conventional agitators where the plastic splines get stripped. So...right now as it is, is the agitator spinning (rotating) along with the worm gear part at the same speed as the worm gear part?...or at perhaps a slower speed, but still spinning (rotating)?
