I just did some drywall repairs in a bedroom, and replaced the drywall on a couple walls. When it came time to put on the texture to match the other walls, I bought one of the texture guns instead of the spray cans for just a little more money.

What is the material that is used for this purpose? I used up two of the small containers that I bought at Lowe's and still need a little bit more. Is this just joint compound that is thinned out?

I don't want to buy another container if I don't have to. :cheshire:

Thinned joint compound is just fine.... thin it down to the proper consistency - mixing well... and start shooting.

With the exception of popcorn almost all texture can be made from thinned down joint compound. How much you thin it coupled with what orfice you select on the gun will determine the texture size/thickness.
