I have a hotpoint dryer that quit putting out heat.. so i pulled it apart to find that the top element wire was burned into right before it connects to the bolt/ copper post thing. I spliced in another wire and now it gets extremely hot on the top.. so hot you can only hold your hang on there for a sec.. Anyone have any idas what this problem may be? Thanks in advance...Mike

Whats the full model number?
Run the dryer with the vent disconnected
from the back of it. Does it cool down any?
