I completed my 1st wood staining project, so I threw all of the rags I used to stain in the washer...bad idea!! Now I have stain all over my brand new washer. Does anyone have suggestions on how to clean this? Can I use paint thinner? Thanks so much!

Welcome to the forums

What type of drum does your washer have? If it is porcelein or stainless you can use paint thinner or even laquer thinner if the paint thinner isn't strong enough. It would probably be best not to use too much as solvents may mess with other parts [if it drains out of the drum]

If you have a plastic drum paint thinner may harm it. I would test a small area first or maybe call the manufacture and see what they advise.

Wish you luck. Next time throw the rags away [in a close container] or burn them.

I tried calling the manufacturer, but they of course didn't know. The drum is stainless steel, so I will try a little paint thinner...will paint thinner harm the rubber lining on the outside of the drum? Thanks again!

Paint thinner won't harm stainless but it can affect rubber. As long as you use a damp rag and don't let a lot of thinner run down it should be ok. It would probably be a good idea to rinse the tub with soap and water when done.
