Ran into a situation were a tenant called about no hot water, that is no water at the faucet. After careful examination I found a stuck check valve on the hot water supply side of the tank. My basic question is this, water purpose does they valve serve in the first place. Two hours of work to find a little plastic ball was malfunctioning. Thanks

If you have a check valve on the tank then you quite likely have a recirculation system on the system... do you?
