Okay. We're redoing the kitchen, and we're to the point where we have to pull the refrigerator out and clean it. After that, we paint. I got some spray paint (appliance paint) at a hardware store, but I'm really apprehensive about the whole process.
Anyone have any tips, or ideas about a roll-on paint for appliances that involves a sponge roller instead of a spray can?

Having the refrigerator clean is very important. If it is one of the newwer models with the vinyl coating it is fairly easy to paint with a brush and roller. Use either an oil base enamel or a waterborne enamel as they will wear much better than latex. If it is one of the older slick finish appliances it should be sprayed for best result and should have a solvent based paint.
I have only used a sponge roller a few times but I guess it would do ok. Any quality roller [1/4-3/8"] should work fine.

for about $75, an auto body place will paint it for you & it'll look better & last longer.

I've heard that they would do it, however, for some reason, I was thinking it would be like 200 or 300 dollars. I guess it all depends. However, if it's less than 100 dollars, that would definitely be worth it. I'll give it a shot. Thanks!

you'll have to call around to a lot of different places. some won't do it. some will do it, but they'll make it worth their while ($200+) and some will do it for $75! at least, that's what i found.

food for thought: if you're attempting to go from white or almond to black, consider how black doors will look with white seals showing (black fridges have black seals), and with white handles (i wouldn't think you could paint the handles, and not sure how/where you'd get black ones...?)
