Hello, and welcome to the boards,

The easiest way to get the door unlocked is to remove the lock from the door. The outside will fall off as the screws are removed from the inside. Once it is off, use a flatblade screwdriver to operate the bolt to the retracted position. The only snag you may run into is if the bolt is broken. You can use your screwdriver to pry the parts out of the way, and out of the door. CAUTION: remember you will be working through a part of the door not covered by the lock. It is possible to mar the door face. Do not use the door to pry against as this will dent the wood. I use my index finger. If it hurts, you know it would be hurting the door without it. (Just my method) When the bolt is retracted, go visit your local locksmith, or box store and get a new one. Either place should be able to rekey it to your existing key, without much trouble.

Hope this helps. Let us know how it goes, and if you need any more help, post back.
