I have ugly darkish sea blue-green carpeting throughout the house. I want to replace it in the living room and hallway. My first choice is wood, but too costly. Next is laminate...however, we have a dog with very long nails and when she is gone there will be another dog I am sure. What is good choice for flooring that will hold up to the dog and that I can put down myself. And if laminate, does it hold up to dogs?

a good quality laminate will hold up to scratching from dog claws.
