We have a whirlpool washing machine. It is 5-6 years old.
We have never had a problem with it until tonight. The problem is that it wont spin. The water comes out and it changes cycles but the thing will not spin. It makes a clicking weird sound, like there is a part thats supposed to be spinning but dosent and gets hit on every turn.
My mom thinks she put too much clothes in and messed it up. Also thinks that it is the same problem as with the last washing machine. We dont want to pay a repair man to come to tell us that we need a new one.
PLease help!!!

bambiblaster thanks for the quick reply.
You say it is the coupler.. how do you know? Im not doubting you but I have no knowledge of washing machines. Is it easy to fix? Can you please tell me how?

There is no belt on the new machines... if the water pumps out ok and will not agitate or spin 9 out 10 its the coupler.. you may see pieces under machine that broke off it... you will have to get the part at a local appliance parts store... lowes and home depot dont carry them
