The touch panel Off/Reset button is no longer working. I noticed the touch panel is separate from the actual motherboard and are connected via a ribbon cable. How can I tell which is the faulty part? If I purchase a new motherboard and it turns out not to be the culprit, I can't return it because it is an electrical part, per parts store. (A new motherboard cost $160)

Any advice is appreciated!
