I have a 5 disc Sony CD player...pretty old. The door for the CD is hanging up, not always closing.
Any ideas on cleaning? I'm at the just blow it out with dust off and see what happens? PS it plays great!

Thanks:wall:

Is it a standalone cd player or is it built into a stereo? Is it a carousel type changer? By door I'm guessing you mean a tray that holds the five cds. Have you had any problems getting the cd player to open or only on close? Does it make any noise when it is stuck? If it is a tray loader, I don't think there is an easy way to clean the mechanism. It is probably a motor going bad or a bad gear. The only thing that could be cleaned that might help are the gears but you would have to take the player apart.

Its a stand alone, carousel type. The tray opens fine, no noise or jerky motion, u just have to push it shut now. I think its almost time for a new one:)

From your last post it sounds like the motor is not engaging when you press the open/close button to close the tray. If you press the same button to open and close the tray, it sounds like either the motor is bad or the logic board is bad that controls the motor. If there are different buttons to open / close, it may just be the close button that is bad and you might be able to fix it if you open the unit.

Of course, unless it was a high end expensive player when you bought it, the best idea would be to probably get a new one or if you have a dvd player, just use that to play your cds.
