Our DVD player wasn't working. Bought a new one. Same problem....no picture. I figured out that the recepters on the back of the tv where you plug the DVD player in to have quit working for whatever reason. Right now we have the jacks going in to the front of the tv which is unsightly. An S-video cable is on my purchase list. My question is.....is it a common occurance for these jacks to quit working, and what would cause them to quit? The JVC tv is only about 4 years old so it hasn't quite made the antiques list yet.

What type of connectors were you using (RCA, S-video, component, dvi, hdmi) I have seen rca connnectors go bad in the past after repeated plugging and unplugging. It can cause a loose connection from the connector to the board inside of the set. If you haven't been unplugging/plugging a lot it is not very likely the connection has gone bad. I would check the setups in your dvd player and tv to make sure everything is setup correctly. Is the dvd player set to output on the correct type of connection, is the tv set to the correct video input, etc?

We were/are using the standard R/W/Y RCA cables. The DVD player works fine in the other two sets of jacks. Plugged - unplugged....never happened. It's a mystery to me.
