I'm looking at refinishing (sanding and recoating with polyurethane) my master bedroom floor. The floor is 3/4" red oak strip and is in very good condition except for some scuffs and light scratches. Today I saw a product from Varathane called "Renewal". According to their literature the product can be used to "restore dull, scratched wood floors". It is not recommended for stained or gouged floors. No sanding is involved, apparently the old finish is removed chemically and a new finish is installed as part of a 3 step process. It caught my eye because it would cost about $500 less than a professional refinishing job.
Is anyone familiar with this product? Has anyone used it successfully?
