I want to integrate new 2 1/4 strip oak flooring into an existing section of flooring.

i understand how to remove some of the old strips next to the area where the new floor will be installed.

I also understand that the new strips should just slip in between the old strips.

questions are: is there a recommended limit to length of the old strips removed?

should I face-nail (or some other type of nailing) the new strips when they are in between old strips (in other words, where i can't blind-nail the new strips)?

thanks.
