my hot water runs out after a short shower . i turned it up and still the same ? does turning temp
up make the water hotter [of course] but also make it last longer or not. what makes it last
longer as far as taking longer showers. it is 15 years old but really shows no signs of deteriation.
thanks

What makes it last long is a combination of volume and reducing the hot water flow rate required to heat the mixed hot/cold water comfortable.

If your hot water heater is set to 110 degrees you might need 1.5 gal per minute of hot water mixed with 1.5 gal per minute of cold water to make a comfortable hot shower. And the water would last for "X" amount of time.

If your hot water heater is set to 165 degrees you woul need only .8 gal/min of hot water mixed with 1.5 gal/min of cold water to make the same comfortably hot shower, but the water will remain hot for "3X" amount of time.

Sounds like the dip tube is gone in it. It's an easy cheap replacement to try.
