I've seen several suggestions about using roofing felt #30 to level out a subfloor in prep for a laminate floor. Can you buy this at Home Depot or Lowes? Is roofing felt the same as asphalt shingles? I heard that asphalt shingles will work as well.

Felt comes in rolls (black) and should be right next to the shingles. 15lb felt covers appx. 400 sf, 30lb covers appx. 200 sf. I don't use shingles all that much unless there is a bad dip or low spot to fill in, and if it's really bad I use a portland based patch instead.
