I went out of town this past weekend and returned to find my house a balmy 43 degrees. The HP is a goodman, about six years old. After some research I figured out the capacitor for the external fan was bad and replaced it thinking i would be done...wrong. The outside fan works lke a champ but the inside fan only comes on when the AUX heat kicks on. I can spin the fan wheel freely when it should be turning but it doesn't keep turning on it's own. I have a programmable Honeywell thermostat that I tried to jump R to G but still nothing. I tried to run as a/c but inside fan still not running. The best part to this story is the main circuit breaker trips after about 10 minutes of the AUX heat running.
Could it simply be the capacitor for the inside fan? OR maybe a relay? I'm trying to avoid a service call if I can. Thanks!

A couple of questions. Is this a Goodman package unit or a split system? (Package unit means the entire heat pump sits outside the house). You should have a breaker box located outside your house near the unit with 2 sets of breakers in it (Example...2- 25 or 30 Amp breakers and 2- 60 Amp breakers). When you try a run the HP in the normal mode, does the 25/30 Amp breaker set trip right away? The larger size breakers are for the Aux heating element in the HP and the smaller for the HP Compressor circut. From what you have described, your situation was similar to my 13 Yr old Goodman heat pump last month and all I had was Aux heat as well and it would kick out the outside 60 Amp breakers or the 90 Amp Main breakers inside the house after 10 min also when using the Aux heat only. I dont think the Aux heat was intended to be ran this way (Constantly). My 25 amp breakers would trip as soon as the unit was turned on in the Normal heating mode. I shut the unit down completly and paid for a service call to confirm what I had suspected was the problem....The compressor was history! I Suggest you call a qualified tech and have them do the same if your unsure as to how service and diagnose your HP......post back with a reply!

It's a package unit. The outside breakers aren't being tripped at all, just the main. Calling for service now. I'll let you know what happens.

The "Blower Timer Delay Relay" was not working - that explains the blower not working right. Replaced and now everything is good again. Maybe this will help someone else.

i'm just curious, and if you don't mind, just what was the cost of the service call, and parts and labor
