Im getting ready to install a tongue and groove ceiling (yellow pine) in my new home. I was told by the lumber supplier that it was not necessary to install a vapor barrier above the pine T&G boards. Is this true since the boards will have blown in insulation above them???? seems backwards to me,, I was going to use 6 mil plastic vapor barrier stapled to the ceiling rafters,,, what should I do??? thanks ron

You definitely need a vapor barrier on the warm side of the insulation. Wood is not a vapor barrier and tongue and groove makes it even worse when it shrinks and shifts.
