I live in a ranch style house. The attic has blown-in insulation that is currently resting at least 3-4 inches above the joist. I am currently running out of storage space in my house and I am considering turning the attic into extra storage. If I remove all of the loose insulation above the joyce, and lay down plywood, how much of the R value will I lose? Is there anyway to avoid this?
