I have discovered frost, that melted and dripped over the insulation in my attic. It is R30 faced batt. I am not sure what is causing it, not enough ventilation or not enough insulation. How far do batts have to come through the celling into the attic? Should they go pass the insulation? Please help!! Thanks

I'm not sure what you mean by "batts to come through the ceiling".
Warm moist air is entering your attic space and this is caused by an improperly sealed attic space. Insulation does not stop moisture.
Do you have a vapour barrier on the warm side of your ceiling?
Check that all penetrations (i.e. electrical wires, plumbing, ducts, etc.) are sealed air tight.
What is the situation with the venting? Do you have ridge and soffit vents which are unobstructed?
