hi, just installed a new goodman heat pump(model#PHKJO3O-1F) 2.5 TON...i dont think the 10K strip is working when it is really cold, and was woundering if someone here could check my thermostat wireing and tell me if i wired it wrong.the thermostat is a honeywell rth7400d programmable for use with heatpumps with AUX strips...ive got it wired as follows...red wire from pump to r/rc(with jumper) at stat. yellow wire from pump to y at stat. green wire to g at stat. blue wire to c at stat. brown wire to aux, at stat. also have a white wire that is not hooked to anything. a note in thermostat manual said that if the old stat. had both O and B be sure to attach the B wire to C at the sat. i assumed O was orange to OB and B was blue to C (common?)....im not sure if strips come on just when needed, but this morning was cold and stat was set to 70,but inside temp was 54...i tried putting stat. on AUX HEAT but only cool air came from vents untill i put it back to heat, and compresser kicked in..any help would be appreciatted! thanks for looking at my thread....douglas

hi, thanks for the reply. the unit is a package unit....in the unit wireing is as follows....yellow is to y red is to r green is to g white is to w2 orange is to o brown is to w1 and blue is to c colored wires from within unit to terminal board for stat. all match letter except for the blue to c, brown to w1, and white to w2 in the stat. the white wire is not hooked to anything(couldnt figure where to put it lol)and brown is hooked to aux. two other terminals in thermostat not being used are marked L and E...not sure what there for either. hope this helps you some, and thanks again for getting back to me..

ok, long story longer,i replaced an old oil type gun furnace.bought the new package and re plummed all the ducts to unit size and sq.ft. of house (mobile home)...the man i bought the new unit from gave me a used carrier thermostat. he said id need it to run a heat pump instead of the one i was useing for the old gun furnace. trouble was ,i was having the same problem (no aux. heat) with it as im having with this new honeywell. but with this new one the fan seems to shut down like it should instead of blowing cold air when the compressor shuts off.sorry....i get long winded lol thanks
