Can someone please explain the difference between a belt sander and a drum sander and if possible which is better for hardwood flooring. Thanks

I have never used a drum sander but if I understand correctly it is just a giant belt sander. A belt sander is only for small surfaces while a drum sander is intended for sanding floors. It takes some skill to use a drum sander. If you sand some areas longer than others you will wind up with dips in the floor.
