Hopefully I won't be laughed off this board -- but I just read that washing a hardwood (poly) floor with tea will put a shine to it. Has anyone tried this? I'm trying to make up for the fact that I once washed my kitchen floor with Murphys Oil Soap and it now looks dull.

Tannic acid in tea is touted to make floors shine. A cup of vinegar in one gallon of water is also effective. Do a section at a time and dry with old towel before moving on to the next section. It is always best to follow flooring manufacturer's or finish manufacturer's recommendations for care and maintenance.

This actually worked out pretty nicely. There was no high gloss shine -- but there was a shine, and a definite clean look to the floor

I work at a bamboo flooring company and we always recommend moping with a damp swifter using the vinegar solution mentioned above. This is also a cost effective way to clean your floor.
