The old wood floors in my house are starting to look distressed, which my wife likes the look. I think they need to be sanded and refinished, but i just cant afford it right now. Is there any way i can brighten it up easily without spending a lot of money? Also there are some spots where paint has dripped and dried. What is the best way to remove the paint from the floor without removing what little shine is left. I tried kleens easy, or whatever, in a closet but it made it sticky when applied...

Any ideas will be appreciated...

Goof Off will remove dried latex paint from floor finish. When floor has no finish to protect it, it is subject to ground in soil and staining from spills or mopping. Avoid the use of wax or oil or products containing wax or oil because these will contaminate flooring and cause adhesion problems when refinishing. There is no quick fix if floor needs refinishing.
