I have a Bryant HP system with a Maple-Chase electronic thermostat (Model 9620). When the system is set to manual, the heater will run continuously. For example, I manually set the thermostat to 73 last night and woke this morning with the house "toasty" and the temperature showing 80.

Q1: Does it look like I need to replace my thermostat?

Q2: If so, can I replace it with a Hunter Thermostat (that's what is available at the Lowe's where I live). The model I was looking at is the " Hunter 7 Day Heat Pump Programmable Thermostat ENERGY STAR®."

Thank you in advance for your assistance.

Bumping it back up.

Any help would be appreciated.

Sounds like it's the t-stat.

I don't not suggest the Hunter t-stat. I hear alot of problems with them, and headaches. I'd suggest the Honywell. Home Depot has the Vision lines. and they are much better t-stat than the huntes.

Jay,

Thank you for the response. I was going to buy a Hunter but based on your advice I plan to purchase a Honeywell. Thanks again.

Make sure you make NOTES of what wires goes where. and power turned off.

Jay, this is probably a dumb question but I'm going to ask it to make sure I don't mess this up. You're talking about labeling the wires connected to the wiring terminal on my old thermostat before I remove them right?

Thanks again for your time and help.

YOu could lable them.. But I made notes. Those lable stickers can be in the way or come undone.

Ex R to black wire w/ red stripes.... or R to yellow..

Ideal good job wire should be R to Red wire
