Entertainment Center: TVs, Stereos, VCRs and DVDs - Can U R/w An Audio Cd On A R/w Dvd Unit

my friend is interested in buying a computer and it has a dvd r/w, but doesnt list a cd r/w. can the dvd r/w unit be used to r/w audio cds? since both units r optical players/ recorders, wouldnt this be possible?

Ive never seen a dvd recorder that wasnt a cd recorder also. which dvd-rw is it?

hi,

i have a new Xbox, and it will not play audio cds that i burned on my computer. it will play audio cds that i purhase from the store, but when i try to play cds i have burned, it says it doesnt recognize the cd, or the cd may be dirty or damaged. the cds play fine in my cd, dvd, mp3 player tho. all it says in the manual, is the cd must display the compact disc logo in order to be playable, and they all do. any ideas???

what format are the songs burned in? is the burned cd a copy of another cd?

the songs are downloaded from ARES onto a blank cd-r disc...bob

What the content is doesn't matter much., as far as burning CDs with a DVDRW drive. The drive will burn it nonetheless. It is up to the software you use to either master a plain data CD, or an special media format.
