My shelf is a 1x4x4 which will be used for pictures. Directions called for a 1x2x4 to put onto the front of the other piece. This second piece didn't look good so I bought some shaped moulding. I made 45 degree cuts on each end of the front piece of molding but cannot figure out how to cut the two sides so that they accurately meet the cut of the front. I've been looking for help on the net but have not found any good, explicit directions.

If you cut accurate 45 degrees on the front piece, then, cut opposing 45 degrees on the sides. Then measure from the inside of the 45 degree on the mounted front piece to the wall. Measure that on your molding and cut at a 90 degree angle. It should all fit perfectly.

Larry you said cut at opposing 45 degree angles but then you said cut it at a 90 degree angle, are you talking the same piece? Would you mind please explaining this like you are talking to somebody who has never cut any angles? Hubby will understand better but he is going to be second explaining it to me, and even he did not understand what you meant. :coffee:
