I have a Toshiba 50H71 HDTV, 50-ince rear-projection that's about 3 years old. It has stopped turning on. I took it into a shop, and after a $75 estimate, they told me it'll be another $400 to fix. Not wanting to dish out that money before I try it myself, I asked them to tell me what parts need to be replaced. They said I need to replace two STK392-110 circuits and one 5A Pico fuse. I'm just wondering how easy it would be for me to replace these parts. I have little to no knowledge about what goes on inside TVs, but I'd rather give it a shot myself before I dish out $400.

The STK392-110 is a voltage regulator and a common problem and sells for around $6.00 on average.

A pico fuse is a fuse but it has a leg on each side like a resistor and needs to
be soldered to the PC board instead of snapping into a holder like most fuses.
These are usualy green, blue or white in color. Most of the ones I have seen
are green. Should no cost more that a few cents for the fuse.
Both of these parts require the use of a soldering iron. The STK part has
many legs close together and a por solder joint or careless solder bridge would
be detrimental to the repair and may cause other parts to fail. Much care
should be taken when soldering any parts. This is based on what your tech
has told you. I am not saying that these two parts are all that is wrong.
